EPA and DHA
are two purest sources of Omega 3

Here’s how they contribute to your child’s brain development:

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid, which

Maintains fluidity and permeability of neuronal membrane

Increases the level of “feel good” neurotransmitter serotonin and memory boosting chemical acetylcholine

Neutralises the oxygen free radicals

Improves the fluidity of photoreceptor membranes, retinal integrity, and visual function

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)is an omega-3 fatty acid, which

Helps limiting aggression

Is essential for appropriate behaviour and mood in kids

Is responsible for the production of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids in the brain

Reduces blood viscosity in brain cell

Enhances tissue perfusion and O2 delivery

Frequently Asked Questions

Here lets find the answers to FAQs

  • Omega-3s are nutrients that you get from food (or supplements) that help build and maintain a healthy body. They’re crucial to the structure of every cell wall you have. They’re also an energy source and help keep your heart, lungs, blood vessels, and immune system working the way they should.

  • Two crucial types of Omega 3 are EPA and DHA. They are primarily found in fish oil. ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), another omega-3 fatty acid, is found in fish oil. DHA levels are especially high in the retina (eye), brain, and sperm cells. Not only are these fatty acids essential for your body to function, but they also deliver some big health benefits.

  • Primarily, Omega-3 is essential for a baby’s development. DHA, a kind of Omega-3, is important for visual and neurological development in infants. Some studies also show that it can reduce the symptoms of ADHD in children and improve their mental skills, like thinking, grasping, remembering, and learning. But it’s recommended not to use Omega-3 supplements as a primary treatment in such cases.

  • It’s recommended to get Omega-3 fatty acids from everyday diet rather than supplements. For this, you can consume non-fried, oily fishes, which are high in EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids, at least two times a week.

      These include:

    • Anchovies
    • Herring
    • Mackerel
    • Salmon
    • Sardines

Cautionary note: While consuming more fatty fish is a good idea, some are likely to have higher levels of mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), or other toxins. These include wild swordfish, tilefish, sharks, marlin, orange roughy, and bigeye tuna. Fish like anchovies, sardine mackerel and wild salmon are safer options to choose from.

  • The ones who don’t have adequate amounts of Omega-3 in their diet can go for supplements. Those who consume a non-vegetarian diet can have supplements with fish oil as it has both EPA and DHA. Algae oil is a vegetarian alternative as it also has DHA.

  • The side effects from Omega-3 supplements are usually mild and might include:

    • Bad breath
    • Foul-smelling sweat
    • Headaches
    • Heartburn
    • Nausea
    • Diarrhoea

Journey of BrainWise

2007-08:

• Understanding the academic burden on Indian children and considering the cognitive-neuro conditions that affect between 20-27% of school-going kids.

• Lack of awareness about Omega-3 in India and its significance in treating the aforementioned conditions.

• The only available choice was the capsule form, which had limited absorption in the body.

• Brainwise was conceived, taking the above considerations into account, and formulated as a liquid for better absorption.

2008-09:

• The product was manufactured in London (UK) and started being imported into India.

2009-10:

• The product was made available to doctors, specifically neuro-pediatricians and developmental pediatricians, for treating neuro-cognitive conditions in children.

• Numerous medical conferences were held across India to raise awareness among doctors.

2010-11:

• The product gained popularity in India as it was the only one in the market with a liquid formulation for better absorption.

2011-12:

• We began encountering difficulties in importing the product, leading to brainstorming sessions on manufacturing it in India and achieving indigenization.

2012-13:

• We conducted several unsuccessful trials to manufacture the product in India and faced numerous challenges related to raw materials, such as fish oil.

2013-14:

• After intensive hard work and multiple trials, we successfully indigenized the product.

2014-15:

• The first commercial batch was successfully manufactured with stability.

2015-16:

• Following successful and stable manufacturing, we applied for a Process Patent as it was a unique process.

2016-Till Date:

• We have successfully manufactured the product, overcoming challenges through dedication and hard work.

• The Indian Government granted the patent.

• During this journey, we have successfully manufactured and delivered more than 10 lakh bottles.

• We are now prepared to move forward and make this product available over the counter (OTC) to cater to a larger population in need at an affordable price.
